Police in Lilongwe have arrested two Zimbabwean nationals for allegedly possessing 215 millilitres (liquid form) of narcotic drug (Cocaine) in Area 43.

Police detectives received a tip-off that the suspects, Tinashe Mukarati, 36, a musician by profession, and Merisha Jackson, 43, in hospitality industry, were keeping narcotics in their house at Area 43.

The detectives made a follow-up that successfully resulted into finding the narcotics after a thorough search into the house.

After seizure of the narcotics, it was then taken to Pharmacy, Medicines and Regulatory Authority (PMRA) for analysis where the results came out to be positive for Cocaine.

The suspects, who are currently under police custody, will appear in court soon to answer a case of Illegal Possession of Dangerous Drugs (Cocaine) which contravenes Regulation 4(A) as read with section 19(1) of Dangerous Drugs Act.
