Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) leader in Parliament Nedson Poya has described President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) as a concoction of promises and lies.

Poya said this in Parliament on Monday when responding to Chakwera’s SONA delivered on Thursday last week.

In his speech Phoya warned Chakwera to tread carefully by implementing campaign promises, failing which Malawians will lose their trust in his administration and that the Tonse Alliance will be voted out of power in 2025 elections.

He urged the government to fix the economy and invest more in commercial agriculture, saying the country will not develop by depending on subsistence agriculture.

Poya also expressed worry that corruption and nepotism, which largely led to the booting out of power of the former governing DPP, is becoming rampant in the current administration.
