Center for Social Accountability Transparency (CSAT) has joined the CSO community in calling for the independence of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
The ACB has been failing to pursue some cases as it has to seek consent from the Director of Public Prosecution before making a move.
In addition, the ACB Director, according to the current set up, is appointed by the president with approval from parliament.
However, critics have raised concerns over such an arrangement, saying it is affecting the anti-graft fight.
CSAT Executive Director Willy Kambwandira, has emphasized the need for parliament to change laws that would ensure the independence of the ACB and its Director.
