The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has clarified on reports surrounding the Stan Kaliza who is being accused of abusing his office by sleeping with different women in exchange for promotion.
Yesterday Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera in a statement said that Kaliza has been found guilty of conduct to the prejudice of good discipline in the service by the Board of Inquiry instituted by the Police Inspector General George Kainja.
However, Kadadzera has noted that some media reports bordering on the matter have been misinterpreted hence a need for clarification.
According to Malawi Police Service Public Relations Officer James Kadadzera, the board of inquiry was to conduct preliminary inquiry into the matter and determine whether the evidence warranted a disciplinary hearing before the Police Service Commission.
“It should also be emphasized that it is only the Police Service Commission that is mandated, at, law, to conduct disciplinary hearing for senior Police Officers,” Kadadzera said through a statement.
Therefore, he said it is thus a misrepresentation of facts to State that the Board has found Mr Kaliza guilty or any wrong doing.
“The accurate position is that the matter has been referred to the Police Service Commission for its determination,” He highlighted.
