ZIMBABWE  – Two men died while a third is battling for his life in hospital after they were stabbed during a fight.

The incident occurred on Suturday in Silobela, a district in Zimbabwe’s Midlands province. Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident to ZTN.

“We can confirm receiving and investigating a murder case that occurred in Silobela and cross roads business centre where two people died after being stabbed while fighting for a girlfriend.

The third victim is in hospital receiving treatment,” he said. According to police, Blessed Sibanda and Talcott Mupasi had a misunderstanding over an unidentified woman, which led to a fight.

Talcott’s brother intervened and stabbed Sibanda in the back. Hillary Mapisa, a bystander, tried to stop the melee but was also stabbed in the chest by Talcott.

Blessed and Hillary Mupasi died on admission to the hospital while Ndlovu sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at Kwekwe hospital.

Inspector Mahoko further said that people should value the sanctity of life and avoid unnecessary loss of life over petty issues.
