A stray elephant from Liwonde National Park which killed one person yesterday, has been taken, authorities confirm.
The elephant is said to have broken out of the forest reserve and went rogue.
Community Extension Manager for Liwonde National Park, Mathias Kachepa Elisa says the elephant went about 30 kilometers away from the park, before they decided to shoot it down, for posing a threat to the surrounding communities.
Elisa says no other incident or crop damage has been registered in the process of chasing down the raging wild animal.
He has however pleaded with the Communities to report any suspected presence of wild animals around their villages.
The presence of the elephant brought a lot of panic to the surrounding communities.
