Police in Ntchisi have arrested 46-year-old McLloyd Chilunjika for being found in possession of 120 bags of NPK fertilizer in a vehicle he was driving.

The fertilizer is suspected to have been stolen.

Ntchisi Police spokesperson, Yohane Tasowana says upon reaching Moffat village, police detectives on patrol met and stopped a three-tonner motor vehicle, registration number NS 5522 which had 120 bags of NPK fertilizer, believed to be that of the Agricultural Input subsidy program (AIP).

“Suspecting that the fertilizer was unlawfully obtained, the police seized the vehicle. Upon interrogation, the suspect said he was coming from Mwansambo,” adds Tasowana.

The suspect will appear in court soon to answer the charge of being found in possession of property suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

He comes from Kamwana village, Traditional Authority Dzoole in Dowa district.
