National Organization of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi has strongly condemned rioters for vandalizing property worth millions at Rumphi district hospital on Monday.
After inspecting property and Maize fields damaged during the riots, first vice president of the organization Hannah Mtemang’ombe says the riots could have led to death of innocent people who were admitted at the hospital.
Mtemang’ombe says the organization is deeply concerned with the damage people caused on this day and has appealed to communities in the district to follow proper channel whenever they have grievances.
Public relations officer for the hospital Banalori Mwamulima says the hospital management is yet to establish the extent of the damage as they are still waiting for an assessment report.
