President Lazarus Chakwera will attend the 6th European Union- African Union ( EU-AU) Summit which will be held in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, from 17th to 18th February 2022.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the journey through a Press Statement released on February 11th, 2022 stating that full details of the President’s travel to Belgium will be announced later.
According to the statement, the participation of the country’s leader in the summit has been made possible by funding from Malawi’s partners.
“The President will use his time in Brussels to lobby for support towards relief efforts to mitigate the devastating effects of the Tropical Storm ANA and for greater collaboration between the EU and SADC in addressing climate change and green energy transformation, peace and security, agricultural sustainability, development financing, trade, digital connectivity and transport, education and health,” reads the statement.
