Yesterday, dismayed area 49 residents in Lilongwe protested an alleged illegal acquisition of land by a government official who is also connected to the ruling Tonse Administration.
The residents claim that this government official has illegally acquired the land, which is owned by the Lilongwe City Council and it was already earmarked for a school project, a police unit and a health center.
Currently, there is construction of a fence at the land which is about 5 football fields in size.
Residents claimed the land has been illegally acquired by an official at State House. He said Lilongwe City officials recently visited the land and assured the people surrounding the area that they will get back their land.
