The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has arrested a woman and her two children in Balaka for allegedly assaulting a lady and stripping her naked on the accusations that she was having an affair with her husband.
This is in reaction to a viral video making rounds on social media in which the woman and her children are mercilessly beating the said woman in view watch of people.
The incident is reported to have taken place on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Sosola Village Traditional Authority (T/A) Nsamala in the district.
According police Spokesperson James Kadadzera “The victim was severely assaulted and paraded naked which is a gross misconduct on the decency of womanhood.”
At the meantime, the police has in custody Mrs Rosina Matewere and her daughter and son in custody who were on the run before being apprehended.
“The suspects will answer charges of assault, insulting and modesty of a woman and theft,” said Kadadzera.
The police has therefore reminded the general public against the “use of inhumane measures including physical abuse on individuals they are not in good books with.”
They suspects will appear in court soon.
