Minister of Lands Sam Kawale says they have resolved the land grabbing issue in Lilongwe’s Area 49 where some people invaded a piece of land reserved for the construction of a school and a community clinic.

Kawale told the press that they have since reprimanded the concerned individuals and have recommended that their respective employers should take disciplinary action against them.

The concerned individuals are government employees from Lilongwe City Council, Office of President and Cabinet (OPC), and State residences.

Said the minister: “The Chakwera administration will not tolerate this kind of impunity and no one will be spared whether a party member, government official or even a Cabinet Minister.

Later in the day, officials from the ministry led by Deputy Minister Deus Gumba Banda visited the site.

The land in question is estimated to be about seven (7) acres and sits at a prime area in area 49, just less than a kilometer from the main road.
