Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) leader Shepherd Bushiri was on Tuesday in Nsanje where he donated maize to over 2400 households.

This comes after similar donations made to slightly over 6000 households affected by disasters in Mulanje, Thyolo and Chikwawa districts.

Bushiri announced last week while in Chikwawa that he will camp in Lower Shire for 10 days to ensure that more people are reached.

In his speech, the ECG leader said his desire to help comes from the painful and disturbing sights of helplessness among several victims of disasters who are confined in camps. Most of the victims lost their houses and are in need of food assistance.

In Nsanje, he visited several camps including some which are in hard-to-reach areas, only accessible through boats.

Cumulatively, Bushiri’s initiative has since touched over 8000 households in Thyolo, Mulanje, Chikwawa and Nsanje districts.
