The High Court sitting in Blantyre has on Tuesday granted a stay order to Goodwill Funeral Services against the Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) on its recent fine of 68 million kwacha against the company for violating the fair trading act.

The company’s Lawyer Benard Ndau has confirmed the development to the press saying that they have obtained the stay order pending an outcome of the appeal.

CFTC slapped Nico Life with a K500,000 fine and Goodwill funeral services 68 million kwacha for generating profits through anti-competitive conduct.

The two companies were given a two-week ultimatum to honor the fines or risk being dragged to court.
