Tropical Cyclone ‘Dumako’ to hit Malawi from Friday, govt warns of second wave floods in the south

The Tonse Alliance government through Ministry of Water and Sanitation has warned of a second wave of flash floods in the southern part of the country following tropical cyclone ‘Dumako’ which is expected to hit the country from Friday.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the cyclone ‘Dumako’ results in heavy rains in districts like Blantyre, Mulanje, Chiradzulu, Thyolo,Chikwawa and Nsanje.

The statement further says that, this will lead to flash floods in the mentioned district.

The Ministry has since warned people in the lower shire and other areas in the South to relocate to upland areas.
