A 26 year old Malawi Police Officer Patricia Chinguwo has been killed yesterday in Mangochi while on duty after she was hit by a speeding Toyota Sienta.

Mangochi Police Spokesperson Amina Tepani Daudi has confirmed the development, describing the accident as a hit and run.

According to Tepan Daudi, Chinguwo met her fate while working at a traffic check point along the Mangochi Liwonde Check point.

Reports indicate that the car was cruising and ended up hitting cones of the police and was unable to stop resulting into hitting the police officer.

Following the impact the officer sustained fractures both legs, arms and severe head injury and she was rushed to Mangochi District Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival and Postmortem examination conducted revealed that death was due to Haerrmolage shock caused by multiple fractures.

The driver of the Toyota Sienta registration number MH 8641, Saidi Malora, 28 has already been arrested.

The late Chinguwo hailed from Benjamin village in Mwanza district.
