Mangochi District Hospital has for the past three weeks been operating without offering mortuary services.

According to Rainbow tv, some Mangochi residents are paying as high as K20, 000 to access the affected mortuary services in some private health facilities in the district.

However, the hospital’s spokesperson, Harold Kabuluzi clarified it is not the entire mortuary services provision affected but the refrigeration of dead bodies only.

Health rights activist, George Jobe described the situation as worrisome as Kabuluzi reveals the district management team is trying to fix the problem as soon as possible.

According to Kabuluzi, Mangochi District Hospital serves a population of more than 1.2 million people.
