Heavy rains have damaged a newly constructed K30 million bridge called Chatwatwa located in Dedza Central East Constituency on Sunday.

District Disaster Officer for Dedza Anganile Karonga and Chongoni Ward Councillor Boniface Nyombe confirmed the development saying the bridge was handed over to the community on 3rd January 2022.

Many people have lost their lives and property wealth millions has been damaged since the onset of heavy rains in Malawi.

The Southern region, mostly the flood prone areas of Chikwawa, Nsanje and others have registered 32 deaths while Salima recording 3 deaths.
