A Mzuzu-based political analyst, George Phiri, is backing Malawi Congress Party second vice president’s recent pronouncement endorsing Lazarus Chakwera as the party’s 2025 presidential election candidate.
Harry Mkandawire’s remarks are continuing to attract mixed reactions from commentators and the citizenry, some of whom fear this could lead to disintegration of the governing Tonse Alliance.
According to Phiri, the MCP’s alliance partners are at liberty to also reveal their plans regarding their proposed torch-bearers in the 2025 election.
