The Fuel Tankers Operators Association of Malawi has taken the National Oil Company of Malawi LTD (Nocma) and its Acting Chief Executive Officer Hellen Buluma to court for contempt of court.

According to the court documents that FaceofMalawi has seen, the association is accusing Nocma and Buluma of disobeying an injunction of 26th April 2021 by using DPU method of importing fuel which is similar to Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU) which the court restrained Nocma from using when importing fuel.

The association has since asked the court to impose imprisonment or a fine or both for contempt of court on Nocma and Buluma.

According to a notice of hearing from the court, the case will be heard on 9th February 2022.
