Though men and women share some common health risks, women are more at risk for certain illnesses and injuries.
Some common things used by humans on a daily basis have serious side effects on their health. These things no matter the great roles they play in our lives should be used in limited amounts. Below are some of these things used mostly by ladies;
1. Cancer
Cancer, the second most dangerous threat to a woman’s health, accounts for 22 percent of female deaths and kills almost 20m women in the each year. However even in this category breast cancer is not the most deadly threat. Rather, lung cancer claims the most lives each year approximately 20m annually mostly due to smoking; breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths. Fortunately, lifestyle choices can help prevent at least one-third of all cancers, so you can cut your risk by adopting healthier habits.
2. Heart Disease
To the surprise of many women, breast cancer is not the number one health risk they face. Heart disease, which accounts for around 27 percent of all female deaths, kills more women in the than all forms of cancer combined nearly 22m women annually. Yet only 13 percent of people know how great a women’s health risk heart disease really is. Luckily, there are lots of lifestyle changes you can make to ward off heart disease, such as not smoking, following a heart-smart diet, and being physically active.
3. Air fresheners
Air freshener exposures, even at low levels, have been associated with a range of adverse health effects, which include migraine headaches, asthma attacks, breathing difficulties, respiratory difficulties, mucosal symptoms, dermatitis, infant diarrhea and earache, neurological problems, and ventricular fibrillation.
Cucumbers contain s bitter substance known as cucurbitacins. This substance causes all kinds of stomach worms and illnesses especially when the cucumber is consumed without cutting its ends.
5. Taking unprescribed drugs.
Some women avoid going to the hospital when they are unwell because they believe it is a waste of time and money. They prefer to get medications from a local pharmacy. It is quite risky to engage in such behaviour since you may end up purchasing phony medications or drugs that are not safe for pregnant women to ingest.
Taking such a medicine might harm your bodily organs, causing significant disease and possibly death within a short period of time. Some women have reported giving birth to a dead kid, which some medications might cause. As a result, you should avoid using pharmaceuticals that are not recommended by a licensed medical professional.
6. Eating processed food all the time.
Some women are quite lethargic, and in order to avoid being worried, they prefer to go to the market and buy already prepared food. You may believe that is proper, but it is not, my dear. Processed food consumption should be limited; some of these items might cause cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and other health problems.
This is due to the fact that most of these foods contain artificial additives and excessive salt levels, both of which can cause a variety of health issues. My dear, it is preferable for you to prepare your supper rather than eat fast food.
7. Smoking
Smoking is extremely harmful, and there is no benefit to it that I can perceive. It is preferable to wear clothing that will keep you warm rather than to smoke if you are feeling chilly. Smoking among women is on the rise, and the toll is rising as well. You should be aware that smoking is harmful to your health in any form, even if you don’t smoke yourself. Lung cancer, renal illness, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and other life-threatening issues are just a few of the many health problems that can be caused as a result of using this product.
8. Excessive intake of Alcoholic beverages
Too much of anything is not just terrible but hazardous too. Some ladies now boast of how many bottles of alcohol they can consume in a short period of time.
If you are such a lady, it is preferable you quit immediately since the more bottles you consume the more your chances of having lethal sickness grows. In pregnant women it might cause child’s cognitive impairment or trouble in delivering birth. Excessive alcohol induces ailments including brain disorder, liver damage, kidney damage, heart issue, cancer, urinary tract infection and lungs difficulty.
9. Reproductive health: Sexual and reproductive health problems are responsible for one third of health issues for women between the ages of 15 and 44 years. Unsafe sex is a major risk factor particularly among women and girls in developing countries. This is why it is so important to get services to the 222 million women who aren’t getting the contraception services they need.
10. Mental health: Evidence suggests that women are more prone than men to experience anxiety, depression, and somatic complaints – physical symptoms that cannot be explained medically. Depression is the most common mental health problem for women and suicide a leading cause of death for women under 60. Helping sensitise women to mental health issues, and giving them the confidence to seek assistance, is vital.
