A newly formed pressure grouping, Citizens Against Impunity and Corruption has threatened to seal the premises of the Ministry of Justice at capitol hill in Lilongwe.
The grouping which is set to hold demonstrations in the city on Wednesday next week has said it is concerned with the growing of impunity and corruption in the country.
According to the group’s representative, Sylvester Ayuba James, the protesters will proceed to the residence of Ashok Nair in the course of the demonstrations.
“Specifically for the Wednesday demonstrations, we are going to march from Simama Hotel in the city of Lilongwe via Lilongwe town-hall and Maula, to area 9 to the house of Ashok Nair so that we can meet him, for him to know us as citizens of this country and that we also know him,” said James.
James also revealed that the following week, they will shut down the office’s Ministry of Justice until the Director of Public Prosecutions give consent to the Director of ACB to prosecute Zuneth Sattar’s case.
Meanwhile, the organizers have said, a notice of the scheduled protests has been presented to relevant authorities.
This follows recent twists of events including a lawsuit sought by Nair over ACB Director Martha Chizuma’s contention audio in which she narrated corruption trends in the country.
