Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Nkhoma Synod Secretary General Vasco Kachipapa has apologized on behalf of Mvama CCAP Church Reverend Yasin Gama over Gule wamkulu remarks.

Kachipapa made the apology this afternoon during a meeting underway in Lilongwe to resolve the matter.

Kachipapa, assured Chief Lukwa, the Chewa Heritage Foundation (Chefo) and Lilongwe District Commissioner, Lawford Palani, that the church will be extremely careful with the examples in its sermons.

Kachipapa has also pleaded for leniency considering that this is the first time the church has offended the Gule Wamkulu cult and the Chewa people in general.

Despite that Kachipapa has apologized, Senior Chief Tsabango has asked Nkhoma Synod to tell Reverend Gama to apologise at a press conference.

On his part, Traditional Authority Masumbankhunda has said many Chewas used to enjoy Gama’s preaching but were extremely disappointed by his sermon in which he tackled the Gule Wamkulu issue.
