The Minister of Tourism and Culture Michael Usi has said government will soon reconstruct a befitting resting place for renowned freedom fighter Orton Chingoli Chirwa.

Speaking today during a visit to Manolo in the area of Traditional Authority Timbiri in Nkhata Bay where the late Chirwa was buried, Usi said government is in progress of constructing a mausoleum for the brave son of Malawi.

He said: “We want to construct mausoleum as a part of respecting him because he was one of the first freedom fighters of this country for us to be enjoying the freedoms we are enjoying now.

“In addition, this mausoleum will attract more tourist to flock in this area to see where this patriotic man rested.”

USi further applauded the people of Nkhata Bay for their love of preserving history.
