A Lusaka Pharmacist who was last year in November shot by police in a mistaken identity, has died.

Victor Chirwa Mulenga, aged 27 was admitted to the University Teaching Hospital where he died last night.

A relative, Prudence Nyirenda, told the Daily Nation that  her brother has been with the fatal bullet since the day he was shot because doctors at UTH advised that they could not remove it because it was located on a very sensitive area.

Mr Mulenga was with his pregnant wife when police shot him after mistaking him for a criminal as his car had the same number  as the one used by criminals earlier in a robbery.

At the time, police had explained that Mr Mulenga was mistaken for criminals who had robbed a man of K1million at gun point and sped away in a car with the same number.

Police who were looking for the get away car, tried to stop Mr Mulenga with warning shots when they confronted him but he did not heed the warning and sped away.

According to police, one of the stray bullets hit Mr Mulenga in the lower back, forcing him to lose control of the vehicle.
