MZUZU: MCP ward Councillor Mwaungulu ordered to Pay K2 Mil in Defamation Case

The Magistrate’s Court sitting in Mzuzu has ordered Chibavi west MCP ward Councillor, Gabriel Mwaungulu to pay damages amounting to K2 million or serve a two-year jail term for defamation.
Mwaungulu was dragged to court by a fellow MCP Councillor Martha Jere of Chibanja ward after using insulting and demanding words on a Whatsapp group that the Mzuzu city ward elected leaders to share.
Jere, says she took, Mwaungulu to court to teach him a lesson to start respecting people regardless of their status and financial standing in society.
