The Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) it has maintained its’ stand on ‘no fees, no registration’ policy when the university reopens, almost two weeks after it was indefinitely closed following students’ protests.

According to MUST spokesperson, James Mphande, while uncertain as to when the university will reopen, says nothing has changed in enforcing rules for tuition payment.

Meanwhile, Mphande said some students were called for disciplinary hearing last week on allegation they harassed staff and caused disturbances to fellow students during the protests.

Students representative council president, James Kalawa, apart from urging the university to consider their request on fees payment, is now concerned that the prolonged holiday will disturb the academic calendar.
