Cameroonian President Paul Biya has ordered the national football federation to give the job for the national team coach to former Indomitable Lions captain Rigobert Song.

Sports minister Narcisse Moulle has confirmed of the order.

Moulle said the coach of the men’s national football team, Mr Antonio Conceicao has been replaced by Rigobert Song based on a very high instructions from the President of the Republic.

The Cameroonian Football Federation ( Fecafoot) has been advised to take the necessary measures for a rapid and harmonious implementation of these very high directives and Fecafoot has confirmed the end of the contract of Conceicao.

The news comes just in time when Cameroon will face 2019 African Champions Algeria in a two-legged play-off for a place at the World Cup in Qatar on March 25th and 29th, 2022.

Song made 137 appearances for the Indomitable Lions playing in four World Cups and won the 2000 and 2002 Africa Cup of Nations titles and was also the the U-21 coach for Cameroon.

He played in England, France, Italy, Germany and Turkey during his club career.

Samuel Eto’o is the President of Cameroon Football Federation and played alongside Song for the Indomitable Lions.
