The country’s State Vice President Saulos Chilima has appealed to every Malawian to take part in the economic development of the country by venturing into any viable business which will also help create jobs for others.

Chilima said this when touring projects under the reforms program in Lilongwe.

In his speech Chilima stressed that for Malawi to develop and ensure that everyone is self reliant, it will take the participation of everyone.

He added that even creation of one million or two million jobs requires Malawians to create businesses and employ others. He said the task should not be seen as a role for the President or Vice-President but for everyone.

He has also called on Malawians to take farming as a business but most importantly to go into value addition. According to him, through value addition, more jobs will be created and the country will have locally produced finished products.

Chilima hinted that Malawi has market for various products but the problem is that people do not go into value addition and instead consumers rely on foreign products.
