Police in Nkhata Bay have arrested at least 13 people for possessing and transporting 145 bags of fertilizer suspected to have been unlawfully obtained.

According to Nkhata bay Police spokesperson, Kondwani James, the fertilizer is believed to be for the Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP) and was bought by vendors from Mzuzu and other places.

Currently, the suspects a are in police custody, waiting to appear before court.
