The Ministry of Education has announced that it intends to recruit additional 6,900 teachers in the country.
According to Minister of Education, Honourable Agnes NyaLonje, they aim to balance the teacher and student ratio.
”On increasing the number of Teachers we are seeking to establish a qualified teacher to student ratio of 1:60,” she said.
She continue that the current financial budget has allowed them to employ more teachers.
“In the 2022/23 Financial Year my Ministry will recruit 6,900 primary school teachers, 3,000 auxiliary teachers and 230 inspectors.”
Last year, the ministry recruited 2,200 primary school teachers and 3,270 auxiliary teachers.
