The Good News Ministries led by Prophet Paston Gondwe has reached out to 615 households from the area of Traditional Authority Pempa in Salima with assorted relief items.

The households were affected by the floods that also destroyed crops and property in most parts of the district.

Speaking after making the donation which included bags of maize and other food items, Gondwe said his drive aims at sharing the message of hope to the survivors.

“We are not assisting these people because we have more, but because we feel with the little we have we can make a difference. So this should also be a lesson to them to assist one another with the little they can afford,” said Gondwe.

One of the beneficiaries, Akowajawo Anyezi commended the ministry for the gesture. She highlighted the shortage of food, space and beddings as major challenges faced at the camp.

“The items we have received today will provide relief as we are in short supply of food,” said Anyezi.

Reacting to the development, Traditional Authority Pemba asked for more assistance from other good wishers as most of the survivors have no food.

Salima is one of the hard-hit districts by the floods in the Central Region which left over 3,600 households affected.
