The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned members of the public against accepting drinks by people they do not trust as this opens the door to sexual abuse.
In a post on their Twitter page, the police said on 13 January this year, a 25-year-old Harare woman was raped by a workmate at a lodge after she accepted a drink that had been laced with a substance that made her unconscious for several hours. ZRP said:
The ZRP warns the public against accepting drinks bought by workmates, boyfriends or persons whom they do not trust as they end up being abused.
On 13/01/22, a Harare woman (25) was given a drink that was laced with an unknown substance by a workmate and she began to feel dizzy before she was eventually raped at a lodge.
The victim only discovered that she was sleeping in a lodge at around midnight and the matter was reported to the Police on 09/03/22 after getting assistance from a friend.
In an unrelated development, police in Harare are investigating a murder case where a female juvenile (17) was found dead in a maize field at Kaseplan Farm, Pomona, Borrowdale on Wednesday this week.
The body was bleeding from the mouth and nose facing upwards with the skirt dropped to the toes.
Police said a pair of shoes, a handbag and a packet of salt were placed beside the body.
