Lawyers working in government have threatened to stop working over unpaid allowance arrears.
According to the lawyers, they have not been paid their non-practising allowance arrears; a kind of allowance that the lawyers get for not engaging in private practice.
The lawyers said the allowances were raised last year December from to K350,000 from K250,000 per month and they were told that the increment will would be backdated to July last year but government is yet to honour the arrears accumulated between that month and December.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice, Pirirani Masanjala is yet to comment on the matter.
