Traditional leaders who are rallying behind Mtima Gondwe as Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe in Rumphi have protested a decision by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to approve the appointment of Joseph Bongololo Gondwe as Thembalamathemba Chikulamayembe of the Tumbukas.
Chakwera approved the appointment of Joseph Bongololo Gondwe on Saturday, March 12 2022.
But this did not please Mtima Gondwe’s camp which held a peaceful protest on Sunday. The grouping went on to present a petition to Rumphi District Council.
Speaking after delivering the petition to the District Commissioner for Rumphi, leader of delegation Chief Principal group village headman Chimduzi said the decision by the president is harmful to the Tumbuka tribe in the district.
He said they want president Chakwera to call for mediation meeting for further discussion on the matter.
Rumphi DC Emmanuel Bulukutu assured that he will deliver the letter to the president as soon as possible.
