A magistrate Court in Blantyre has set April 25 to 29, 2022 to start hearing a case involving former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Director-General, Aubrey Sumbuleta.

Registrar of High Court and Supreme court Appeal, Gladys Gondwe has told the local media that Sumbuleta and one other will answer two counts of unlawful conduct by a public officer in procuring public assets and abuse of abuse.

Gondwe says the two appeared in court on March 4, this year for plea taking, where they denied the charges.

The Fiscal police netted Sumbuleta early this month on suspicion that he abused his office while serving as Director-General of the state broadcaster.

According to James Kadadzera, National Police Spokesperson, the police’s Fiscal and Fraud Unit arrested Sumbuleta over the fraudulent procurement process of some company vehicles when he was heading the MBC.
