Werani Chilenga, a Member of Parliament for Chitipa South has strongly condemned legalisation of Indian Hemp saying that it would “make our people mad”.

According to Chilenga, Treasury should support fish production through which farmers can earn millions of kwacha in profits.

This did not go well with other members such as Abel Kayembe of Dowa West who has showed support of the hemp whose cultivation and possession is currently illegal.

Richard Chimwendo Banda has cautioned the lawmakers against downplaying the effects of the local hemp on young people.
