Rumphi district council has come under scrutiny over the construction K15.9 million toilet at Rumphi hospital.

Two organizations, Rumphi Development and Accountability Forum (RUDAF) in conjunction with Civil Society Organisation Network in the district are not pleased with the work and are demanding an explanation on the project.

The two want Rumphi district council to explain on how the council used K15.9 million on a newly built toilet.

RUDAF chairperson Moir Walita accused the council of constructing a small and substandard toilet.

In his reaction, Rumphi district commissioner Emmanuel Bulukutu denied the allegations saying there was no mismanagement of funds during the construction works of the facility.

Meanwhile, Bulukutu has challenged the two organisations that if they are not satisfied with the explanation, they can take further steps.
