Tanzania’s Bongo sensation Diamond Platinumz is trending after videos of him struggling with English emerged on social media.
First it was a video of him in a live Instagram session with a white man. Diamond was asking the man what the time was wherever he was and he could hardly understand what the artist was saying.
“What the time is it there”? the artist asked trying to speak fluent English.
Just hours later, Diamond and Zari’s reality show premiered on Netflix and one particular episode got netizens’ attention.
The Naanzaje singer was having a conversation with South Africa rapper Nadia Nakai. Nadia then popped a question and he felt uneasy.
“How old are you?” she asked.
Before responding, the Mtasubiri hitmaker first unbuttoned his coat prompting Nadia to ask why he was thinking about his age.
“No, I am not thinking about it. I was just untying my button. 31st,” Diamond answered.
