Kasungu-based Controversial self-acclaimed prophet Bentry Canan is in Police custody on suspicion that he continuosly defiled a 15 – year – old girl in the district.
Canan, 41, has been defiling the girl repeatedly from November 2021 to March 2022 at Kasalika Maplot location where he is renting a house.
It is reported that the girl was employed by the suspect as a housemaid in October and in November 2021, the victim was told to be given her salary after sleeping with her, but she was not paid.
On March 10, 2022, the girl forced the suspect to pay her the salary, but he dumped her at her home and left without any explanation to the guardian.
Then the matter was reported to Police and the victim was sent to Kasungu District Hospital for medical examination and treatment where she was confirmed to have been defiled.
Canan will appear before the court to answer the charge of defilement.
The Prophet first made the headlines in October 2021 after he caused havoc which led to the end of Mr. Wezzie Nyangu and Martha Pondani’s day-old marriage over cheating allegations.
He hails from Chipala Village, Traditional Authority Mwase in Kasungu district.
