Hearing of a case involving four directors of the Foundation for Irrigation and Sustainable Development (FISD) has failed to resume on Monday due to the absence of a witness who was expected to testify.
The four, Kondwani Nanchukwa, Arthur Mpama, Moses Chirambo and Frank Mwenechanya were arrested in 2020 on fraud charges among others.
Yesterday, the second witness was supposed to testify but state lawyers informed the court that he had failed to avail himself because he was attending to his sick wife.
However, defence lawyers, led by Wapona Kita, expressed worry with what they called continued delays to the case, claiming that this is disadvantaging their clients. Kita has since called for the case to be expedited.
Senior Resident Magistrate Florence Msekandiana has since adjourned the case to 18 May, 2022.
