South African twin sisters, Olwethu and Owami Siko, who were once married to the same man, have landed their own reality show, “Twice as Bold.”
The inseparable twins, whose last relationship ended in tears, are trying to find love again in the new show. Olwethu and Owami, who believe they are “two bodies with one soul”, are searching for one man to marry both of them.
The 31-year-old sisters argue they have been sharing everything since birth and see no reason why they should not share a husband.
“Twice As Bold” will premiere on Mzansi Magic on April 7 and will feature 13 episodes.
What Is “Twice As Bold” About?
Part of the press statement from the DStv channel reads,
“Born in Vosloorus, the 31-year-old sisters’ tough childhood brought them even closer than expected – so close that they were married to the same man for nine years. Now divorced and with daughters born two months apart fathered by the ex-husband, the twins are on a journey to accept their spiritual calling as prophets – and to find a new husband.”
Shirley Adonisi, director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, added,
“Shows centred around family trials and tribulations never get old and are always fascinating to observe – more so when the blood ties are as unique and as deep as the ones in Twice as Bold. We’re sure our audience will love this duo as we see them navigate motherhood, careers, spirituality and of course love.”
What Happened To Olwethu and Owami Siko’s First Husband?
Owami and Olwethu Siko made headlines when they married TV director Mzukiseni Mzazi. The twins married Mzazi in 2011 in an elaborate traditional ceremony when they were just 21. At the time, Mzazi was 47 years old.
The two later confessed that they’d married the much older man because they wanted to escape poverty. They revealed that they were raised by their grandmother and had a tough poverty-stricken childhood.
“We were in a marriage whereby we didn’t enter because we were in love with our husband. We got married because we were escaping the poverty that we were in,” said Owami.
In a previous interview, the twins said,
“After three months of marriage, we found out that he has many kids and he wasn’t divorced. All those things he had hidden from us and the marriage started to be rocky, with lots of fighting. Since then we are living in a marriage where there is abuse emotionally. We are tired now because there is a lot that we have experienced.”
After getting married, the twins got pregnant at around the same time, and they both gave birth to two beautiful daughters.
Unfortunately, the marriage ended in tears after the twins asked for a divorce. They accused their husband of being abusive and narrated harrowing experiences of how he had tried to burn them alive.
“He used to beat us. He poured diesel over the house but couldn’t find matches. If he had, we’d be dead today. We fear he might end up doing something bad to us.”
Now on the market again, the inseparable twins have stated their desire to marry again. The 31-year-olds say the prospective husband would have to pay lobola for both of them first
