Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo has confirmed the death of two female primary teachers aged 26 and 27 who were shot dead by the lover of one of the teachers.
The police discovered the bodies of the two women and a man in a room in Ga-Rankuwa.
“Police were called by community members who heard gunshots inside the room. Police responded swiftly and found the room locked. Police broke the door open and found three bodies with gunshot wounds,” he said.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi said he is devastated by the killing of two teachers in Ga-Rankuwa, north of the Pretoria CBD.
The two were operating at Lekgalong Primary School in Ga-Rankuwa Zone 1.
Meanwhile, the Gauteng Department of Education said it would provide psychosocial support to the affected families and the school community.
