A total of 7560 needy students have applied for Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s bursary scheme which is targeting 5 000 underprivileged Malawian students in the country’s secondary schools and universities.
Bushiri’s Public Relations Officer Ephraim Nyondo has confirmed of the development in a statement released on Thursday.
“We have, at exactly 16:30 hours of the 24th March 2022, officially stopped receiving applications to the Shepherd Bushiri Bursary.
“Our team has now started a process of scrutinising the applications with a goal of shortlisting the eligible ones,” reads in part statement.
Added the statement:“We will be moving with considerable haste bearing in mind that second term for secondary schools in the country begins next week.
“Thanks to the 7560 students who applied. We will keep you updated through various forms of communications.
“For now we are busy.”
