Will Smith’s son Jaden is getting dragged on social media by Americans after he endorsed his dad’s infamous smack on comedian Chris Rock during the Oscars on Sunday night.

The 23-year-old rapper appeared so impressed with his dad’s assault on Chris Rock that he took to social media to show his support.

Writing on Sunday night, a few minutes after the Oscars broadcast ended, Jaden wrote,

“And That’s How We Do It”

Will Smith later issued a statement in which he publicly apologised to Chris Rock for the assault. However, Jaden did not delete the tweet in which he showed support for his father’s actions.

Americans on social media are dragging Jaden for supporting his father’s loss of control and violence. They argued that he should not support violence in any context and that this shows that there is a more profound problem of violence within the Smith family.

Some social media users also highlighted his family’s own shortcomings, such as his mother’s affair with his friend August Alcina. Jada previously publicly admitted she had been in an “entanglement” with the 29-year-old musician.

There were rumours that Will allegedly gave his blessing to their romance since they were broken up at the time, but Jada confirmed that it wasn’t the case.

Some highlighted that this type of thinking opens up performers to violence and teaches young people that it is okay to respond with physical violence.

@FightNightVoice

A comedian is doing their job of roasting public figures when they are PAID to appear at an event and ROAST public figures. But, sure, commit assault against the comedian. Well done. #Oscars #ChrisRock

@Unfreakin

@jaden: No, your father reacted violently and violence should never, ever be celebrated. Violence is wrong and is not excusable. If a non-celebrity had done what your father did – they would have immediately been arrested. Will Smith must be held accountable.

@doodydododo

Saying you “do crazy things for the people we love”, after punching someone, is unacceptable. Your dad apologised to everyone but @chrisrock so he stands by what he did. Your entire family undermines #domesticviolence and #assault #victims 100% – LOVE doesn’t behave this way.

@LadyGreekLover

Will Smith is actually teaching his kids that committing a crime by hitting someone is okay when a poorly researched joke is being said. #Oscars This is soo wrong on soo many levels! 😬🤯🤮 #cancelwillsmith Oh and btw violence is NEVER ok!

@leemyersSfc

Your mums been disrespecting your dad for years lmao.

@IamTheHarleyD

Do what, shame your family in front of the world, STOP DEFENDING/DENYING your moms desperate tyranny, and abuse…and your dad’s desperate codependency and insecurity… and btw #GIJADA

@LivieDawn

So now Will Smith is teaching his kids that committing a crime, actually ASSAULTING someone, is okay when a poorly-researched joke is said. That display was disgusting and garners no respect! Chris Rock could file charges and WIN with televised evidence.
