The Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate Court has last evening granted bail to Businessman Ahmed Chunara who was arrested in relation to the abuse of Former President Peter Mutharika’s Tax Payer Identification Number (TPIN) to import cement worth K5 Billion duty-free and six other offenses.
Chunara is answering the charges alongside Norman Chisale, former director of State Residence Peter Mukhito, and Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) Deputy Commissioner Roza Mbilizi.
Presiding over the court proceedings, Senior Resident Florence Msekandiana ordered the Accused Chunara to pay a cash bond of K10 Million, provide three sureties of non-cash of K50 Million and surrender all travel documents.
