Malawi’s second republican president Bakili Muluzi is attending the memorial service of his successor Bingu Wa Mutharika at Goliati in Thyolo district.
the family of Bingu has held a memorial service celebrating the life of the fallen leader.
The service has started off with prayers at Chingazi Catholic Parish in the district.
Later, the ceremony will proceed Mpumulo wa Bata where Bing was laid for the laying of wreath.
Other people in attendance are former president Peter Mutharika and his wife Gertrude Mutharika, Muluzi’s son Atupele, who is also United Democratic Front (UDF) president, Mulhako Wa Alhomwe board chairperson Leston Mulli, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administrative secretary Francis Mphepo, the party’s regional governor (South) Charles Mchacha and other senior party officials, among others.
