The Tobacco Commission (TC) has postponed the opening of the Limbe Tobacco Auction Floors due to low volumes of leaf at the market.
The Market was scheduled to open on the 5th of April 2022, but will now be opened on the 20th of April 2022.
A statement released last evening has indicated that most farmers in the southern region will be ready to sell their tobacco later this month.
Meanwhile, the commission has also admitted that the Kanengo Auction Floors in Lilongwe has been hit by low volumes of tobacco supply, a development that has forced the commission to start operating the market 3 times only per week.
The commission has further announced that normal auctioning season will resume if tobacco supply improves.
