The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Mia promised Malawians on Wednesday that there will be no corruption in the process of free water connection which started on 1 April.

She made this remarks in Lilongwe during press briefing under the banner Government Faces the nation which involved Gospel Kazako, Minister of Information and Digitalisation.

A system has been put in place by the Anti-Corruption Bureau to monitor everything in the policy, said Abida.

“It is the aim of my Ministry and water boards to provide quality water to everyone and that is why the process has been connected to the system for people to benefit,” she explained.

According to her, the connection will be first come, first serve and the applications fits for the process are for domestic use only with a maximum of 24 meters from the service line.

Gospel Kazako asked Malawians to take the implementation of free water connection seriously and report any corruption case to authorities in order for the project to be successful.
