Sunbird Tourism with support from Department of Forestry in managing Zomba mountain has planted 3600 indigenous trees in Zomba mountain an effort of helping the Government to plant trees to avoid climate charge.
Oswald Bwemba, Head of Operations for Sunbird Hotels and Resorts, said the mountain is an eco-tourism treasure and the only way to keep it more attractive is by practising re-afforestation and this helps to maintain the beauty despite that Sunbird ku Chawe in Zomba district is seven thousand feet from Zomba plateau.
“This is a demonstration of our commitment to green initiatives for sustainable tourism and taking care of mother nature as a way of giving back to the community whose lives depend on the eco-system of the forest through our cooperate social responsibility strategy under the pillar of environmental enrichment”, he explained.
Bwemba promised that his management will take care of the mountain by planting trees for the next 10 years to come.
